Platforms: The heart of the station

I’ve changed direction in regards to the integration of my platforms which are now located in the central public space. The idea is about creating a sense of arrival and destination. To do this i believe the main line must introduce the user to the space, it should become a destination rather than a stop and have an impact on the user both upon entry and exit. As the Aerotropolis is a car free precinct the station is the point at which the legs and rail take over. This makes its presence in the site imperative, it must become a drawcard in its own right, setting itself apart from the surrounding infrastructure whilst still relating to site. Main line arrival must occur at or above ground level to create this sense of arrival, though the structure should still sit low on the site, becoming a part of the landscape. The idea is to still take inspiration from brolga both in form and spirit of place, but in a more abstract manner. The use of curve, angle, and cantilever still aim to imply the form and lines of the Brolga but less directly. Instead of analysing biomechanical movement to generate form in relation to flight, ideas will begin to take shape from lift and drag coefficients

These coefficients also relate in angle somewhat to lines proposed in the initial Aerotropolis pitch, and also to the existing and proposed runways relationships to the northern aspect. The platforms are arranged in such a way so as to begin to encourage pedestrian movement and
